Player basic interaction
This page is for players entering the game for the first time. It introduces scene camera controls, object selection, editing tools, interface behavior, and the basic entry points for vehicle control in driving mode. If in-game prompts differ from this page, follow the in-game display.
Scene camera controls: in the basic scene mode, players mainly use mouse and keyboard to observe the world, select objects, open tools, and edit roads or terrain.
| Action | Default input | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Pan camera | W / A / S / D or middle mouse drag | Move the observation point along the current view direction |
| Rotate camera | Right mouse drag | Orbit around the current focus point |
| Zoom | Mouse wheel | Move closer to or farther from the scene |
| Raise / lower camera | Bound vertical movement keys | Adjust camera height |
| Adjust zoom speed | Camera zoom speed in settings | Use when mouse-wheel zoom feels too fast or too slow |
The camera avoids going below terrain. Near the ground or a slope, it may lift slightly; this is normal anti-clipping behavior.
| View mode | Best used for |
|---|---|
| Perspective | Terrain relief, bridges, tunnels, vehicles, and spatial relationships |
| Orthographic | Top-down layout, road plan editing, and checking alignment element relationships |
The global tool area contains perspective / orthographic buttons. Orthographic view switches to a top-down camera; when switching back to perspective view, the game tries to restore the previous camera position and angle.
Object selection: after an object is selected, it usually shows highlights, control points, an information panel, or floating tools. If selection is unclear, check the right-side properties panel or nearby control points.
| Action | Default input | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Select object | Left click | Select roads, alignment elements, anchors, facilities, or other interactable objects |
| Clear or exit current action | Right click or Esc | Right click often cancels continuous actions; Esc first closes popups or opens settings |
| View object actions | Open quick toolbar after selecting an object | Run actions supported by the selected object |
Quick toolbar: selecting an editable object opens a context toolbar. Roads may provide create, connect, delete, and alignment editing actions; bridge, tunnel, or facility objects may provide parameter editing or deletion.
- Left-click the target object.
- Choose an action in the quick toolbar.
- Follow prompts to click, drag, or confirm.
- Right-click or press
Escto leave the current tool.
Screen control points: road elements, anchors, and vertical profile points may show draggable control points. They adjust position, elevation, radius, or direction.
| Control | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Click control point | Select that control point |
| Drag control point | Move it or adjust its geometric parameter |
| Release mouse | Commit the drag result |
Right click / Esc | Cancel the current continuous action or leave edit mode |
During dragging, the system computes position from the mouse ray and editing plane. If the mouse points into the sky or at a very steep angle, a control point may temporarily stop moving; adjust the camera and drag again.
Road editing flow: choose a road or road tool, click start/end/control points, continue clicking or dragging as prompted, watch preview lines and hints, then confirm generation. Right-click or press Esc to leave continuous creation.
| Object | Typical actions |
|---|---|
| Road / alignment element | Create lines, arcs, transition curves, connections, and edit alignment |
| Anchor | Adjust road geometry control points |
| Vertical profile point | Adjust elevation and grade segments |
| Bridge / tunnel | View or adjust structural parameters |
| Roadbed / slope / facility | Generate, modify, or delete by tool and template |
Delete and undo: ordinary objects may be deleted directly; deleting roads, bridges, tunnels, ramps, or facilities usually asks for confirmation. When undo is available, use the displayed undo button or Ctrl+Z.
| Global tool | Use |
|---|---|
| Settings | Open the settings panel for graphics, audio, input, and camera speed |
| Perspective / orthographic | Switch view mode |
| Layers | View or toggle terrain, roads, and other layer displays |
| Measure | Inspect distance or engineering quantities |
| Undo / redo | Revert or restore supported edit operations |
| Common issue | What to try |
|---|---|
| Cannot click an object | Zoom in, switch to orthographic top view, or click a clearer part. Some objects can only be selected through control points or centerlines. |
| Right mouse drag does not rotate | You may be dragging a control point, a popup may be open, or UI may have focus. Release the mouse and press Esc first. |
| Mouse wheel zoom is too fast or too slow | Adjust camera zoom speed in settings. |
| Unsure whether a tool is still active | Check cursor, preview lines, control points, and toolbar state. If unsure, right-click or press Esc. |
